Project “New investments for the industrialization of SOL products and the dual LED fire detector” – Funded by the Marche Region (ID 14381)

Inim for years with the Marche Region on research, development, and technological innovation projects.

The project, funded under the call for proposals Engineering, industrialization of research results, and economic exploitation of innovation (2017 call for proposals), stems from two Research and Development activities undertaken during the 2017 financial year:

  • SOL Project – wireless intrusion detection/home automation system
  • Project F028_000 HI-TECH: Dual LED fire detector – Detector Dual wavelength optical smoke detector

Summary of the SOL project

SOL is a new family of exclusively radio-based intrusion detection/home automation control units. It joins the two families of SmartLiving and Prime control units, Prime belong to hybrid intrusion detection systems (wired and/or radio-based). Conceived in the first half of 2017, SOL responds to an explicit market need for a completely radio-based system in this product range, with outstanding ease and speed of installation for professionals, but also advanced functionality for end users.
The aim of the project was to industrialize the SOL family of control units.

Dual LED fire detector

Inim manufactures and markets a line of smoke detectors for fire detection and alarm systems for buildings (ED100 / ID100 detectors). The project aims to introduce a new generation detector to the market with improved characteristics in terms of response speed and reliability, as well as immunity to false alarms caused by contaminants.
The optical smoke detector produced by Inim , like most smoke detectors on the market, operates on the principle of light refraction (also known as the Tyndall effect). The main limitation of detectors of this type is that they signal an alarm condition not only in the presence of smoke (and therefore products resulting from actual combustion) but also in the presence of contaminants such as steam, dust, insects, etc.
The aim of the project was to overcome this limitation by using two separate light sources at different wavelengths.
